Established as an Oregon corporation, Recovering Our Akitas Rescue (ROAR) was approved by the IRS as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in February 2023. At present the only Akita rescue group in the northwestern United States, ROAR’s current focus will be on rescuing purebred Akitas from Oregon and Washington shelters only; however, as time and resources allow, rescue activities will cover a wider range of northwestern states.
